Who would want to be in retail?
Retail Mix
Do you find it harder to source clothing you love and are dying to wear from local mainstream retailers? Do you constantly come across too many lack lustre products that are too predictable? Who wants to buy something that everyone else is wearing anyway.
Its no surprise that some mainstream fashion brands collapsed due to heavy competition and failing to grasp what the market wants. There has been pressure for some time with the entry of international fast fashion giants Zara, H&M and others making waves. Retailers that have gone into voluntary liquidation include Marcs, David Lawrence, Rhodes & Beckett and Herringbone. “All and all that’s cost Australia 5,000 jobs so far in 2017”. Patty Huntingdon, Frockwriter.

Brand Innovation
Middle retailers couldn’t find their place and didn’t move with what their customers aspire to. Their brand related to a certain customer whereas successful retailers provide a product that also attracts a younger market and continually reinvents itself. Brand innovation is and should always be the cornerstone of any marketing strategy and without it you fail to appeal to a savvy shopper.
Quality too is important for consumers, if you cut the quality but keep at the same price point you are not going to keep your customers.
As an Executive Stylist I know too well that women and men want to express their individuality in the way they dress and step out in style. And why not with many new boutiques and brands popping up with enticing offers such as lifestyle brands, handmade, artisan or vintage to tempt you. I love to shop on holidays or when out on the weekend and I come across a beautiful garment or cult accessory I absolutely adore.
Brand Loyalty

Women aren’t brand loyal anymore and love to mix it up with a designer jacket with something cute that is vintage or from a small boutique. There is more incentive to pay more for a quality high-end garment that works with all your basics.
That’s why Defining Style offers an Exclusive Fashion Pop Up Experience for women who want exceptional service, honest advice and no pressure to buy.
